“Power is about just recognizing who you are, what you bring to the table, owning that and channeling that in the best way possible, then shoving the rest aside.”
Over the past couple weeks I’ve had a number of people reach out asking about how to focus and be more productive during quarantine. For those who aren’t used to having to create boundaries around unstructured time, this can be especially tough.
I’ve been using this period of self-isolation as an opportunity to really tap into a creative side of myself that I’ve never given the time and space to fully explore before.
I wake up every morning and commit to writing at least 750 words. When I write, sometimes I speak to myself, sometimes I put on inspiring music, sometimes I drink wine… whatever gets me in the mood. But no matter what, I always get dressed. No sloppy sweatpants + writing for me.
“Why dress up to write when no one else is around?” You ask. In response, I pose another question, “Why spend so much energy getting dressed up for other people, but not for yourself?”
When I get dressed for my writing, I become a different person, no one else sees me, but my writing definitely sees me, feels me, and the final output undoubtedly reflects how I showed up for up. In this process, I’ve been discovering a voice and power within me that I’ve never fully realized… and I can’t wait to share it with you soon!
Always commit to showing up as your best self for your creative work. It pays off.

Hope this serves as a source of inspiration for you during this difficult time!
