Hey - I’ve missed you!
First, Happy National Women’s History month - this has become my absolute favorite month of the year because it gives me unabashed permission (not that it’s ever needed) to express how much I love being a woman.
Here are some of the things I’m doing to celebrate:
I’ve launched a weekly Women in Investing Clubhouse Series! Last week we had over 1K women tune in to learn about why and how to start investing. It was such a powerful space to learn from each other. As one woman said, “This is one of the most empathetic Clubhouse rooms I’ve been in. No one is trying to talk over anyone, no one is trying to brag. It’s so refreshing to just listen and learn from each other’s experiences, and gain real knowledge of investing.” If you missed it, don’t worry! You can read the takeaways here and join us for the next Women in Investing discussion tonight at 6:30 EST. We’ll be focusing on finding and creating your community to diversify your portfolio.
So many incredible female investors on The Confident Investor Podcast! I’m loving this opportunity to speak to my badass peers and best investors in the industry, sharing their insights directly with my listeners. This month, I’m featuring powerhouse female investors including the likes of Joanne Wilson (one of NYC’s most successful angel investors and the earliest one to have a female-driven investment thesis) and Claire Diaz-Ortiz (Partner at Magma Partners and a pioneer in investing in Latin American Women). In the coming weeks, lookout for interviews from Randi Zuckerberg (the creator of FB Live and Founder of Zuckerberg Media) and the partners of Backstage Capital (the leading fund investing in people of color, women, and lgbtq+ founders.)
On Thursday evening, I’m interviewing Olympic Gold medal-winning gymnast Gabby Douglas on Instagram Live. We’re part of different generations (insane), but what we have in common is the grit and perseverance from years of gymnastics training that has prepared us to lead in the business realm.
Some personal highlights:
I never thought I’d say this, but I started a new role! (Yes one with an actual salary :) After years of hustling and eventually finding success as a serial entrepreneur, I created an incredible opportunity with the company that originally acquired SheWorx - I’m now heading up Brand at Republic (the leading investment platform to invest in the future you believe in - startups, crypto, real estate, gaming) with the mission to turn it into a truly iconic mainstream brand. A big part of this is educating new investors, and what better way to pass on my knowledge and empower more underrepresented investors than by pouring my energy into one of the leading equity crowdfunding platforms!
I decided I will never suffer another winter again. I wager I’m not alone in this decision. But instead of following the exodus to Miami and Tulum, I’m waiting out the winter in Costa Rica. I joined my best friend out here and have spent the last month working from the beach, taking surf lessons (a real non-work hobby!), and learning the subtle art of being relaxed… (while juggling multiple projects, a full-time job, two podcasts, a Clubhouse series, coaching clients, and a newsletter (even typing that out is exhausting). You can take a woman out of New York, but you will never take the New York out of the woman.
I’ve been working with some incredible female coaching clients on the nuances of communication - responding vs. reacting - especially when triggered. As well as how to lead from the intuitive feminine rather than the logical masculine side of one’s personality.
What’s new with you? How are you celebrating National Women’s History Month?
Yours,
